Movie Director Needed: Book to Big Screen

A friend of mine has written a wonderful story and is looking for a movie director/producer/sponsor to assist in making this incredible story a movie.  I thought I’d share and see if anyone knows of anyone who might be able to help.

The book Grease Monkey is about a friendship in the early 1900s between men of different color joined by their love of racing.  It is based on actual events that helped established some of the earliers races for African-American race care drivers.

Lovely Logics: Smile and 6 Others

7 Lovely Logics
1. Make peace with your past so it doesn’t spoil your present
2. What others think of you is none of your business
3. Time heals almost everything. Give the time, some time
4. No one is the reason for your happiness. Except you, yourself
5. Don’t compare your life with others, you have no idea what their journey is all about
6. Stop thinking too much. It’s alright not to know all the answers
7. Smile, you don’t own all the problems in the world

No DirectTV: Family Time Does Exist

For Lent this year, our family is giving up television through the week which has proven to be a blessing.  The children are 14, 12 and 11 and they are doing just fine without TV.  The 11-year-old loves to play card games, my 12 year old loves to write, and the 14-year-old goes to the neighbors to shoot baskets–they all have started to read more and I have taken the time to play with them!!!!!

Family time does once again exist on the farm–it just takes prioritizing better.  I do not think my husband or children would tolerate this being a rule all year round, but we are going to figure a way to put limits on TV time.

The house has a different feel without the TV consuming all of our free time. It is nice to have quiet, chat with the kids, and cook together. I absolutely love it.

Teenage Cash: Couponing for Dollars

My teeneage daughter wanted a way to earn cash and I needed to find more time to go through ads, research deals on line and cut coupons–here is the agreement we struck.

She goes through the ads and coupons, makes a list of items that I could purschase and sorts the coupons for me by category.  Whenever I use a coupon she has found for me I pay her 20% of what was saved.  When she finds deals where I get reward cash or some sort of gift card–she claims ownership to that.

This has proven to be a win/win. She is learning how to stretch the family income and I save money!!!

Friday Night: Stations of the Cross

The kids and I went to a soup supper at Church and then to Stations of the Cross–which is a beautiful and powerful series of prayers that maps out Christ’s journey with the Cross to His death.

One of the thoughts my children and I spoke about after was when you do something for someone, you are doing it for Jesus.  I share most every morning to look for ways to serve others–opening a door, sharing a smile, saying Please and Thank You–letting them know that each day we are given the opportunity to be just a bit better and thus making our piece of the world just a tad more beautiful.

Clean Floors: Shark Steam Mop

I also want to share my great find (probably not mine alone) in the Shark Steam Mop.  To borrow a phrase from my 14 year old, OMG.  This is so fun and easy to use and it cleans so wonderfully.  The Shark Steam Mop uses water (great for the environment and the pocketbook) and the mop pads are washable, not disposable–so once again, great for the environment and the pocketbook.

I use this on all the floors I can–my bathroom floors, the kitchen, the mud area, the halls.  It is a great product.

All of the hair spraying and body misting takes place in one bathroom and it creates a bit of an “Ick” on the floors–the steam mop is effective in removing all of the crud.  My kids like using it too (not too much) but if I ask occasionally for them to do it, they do.  And they think it is pretty coolish.

I would recommend this product–it is easy to use, can be found on sale periodically, and lasts.  Plus the mop heads are washable and there is no cost in cleaning solutions, because you use water.  I have shared information on the Shark to friends and family and the agree.  I also know that the housekeepers in one of the offices I support use the Shark in all of the guest homes they clean.  Those people know how to clean quickly and efficiently–so you know it’s good.

I Can Clean: Lysol Wipes

I am not the world’s best housekeeper–but I do like a decently organized and clean home.  It makes me happy and much more pleasant to be around.

Time is in such short supply and I have devoted time and research into finding the best and easiest cleaning products to aid in my housekeeping chores.  We certainly live in a blessed time period,  dishwashers and front-load high capacity washers and dryers save so much time and effort–but who says we can’t find more ways to save time, labor and still have a cleanish home.

Today’s tip is to use Lysol Dual Action Complete Clean Wipes.  These wipes have two sides, one rougher for “tougher messes” and a softer side for “daily touch-ups”.  I used these this morning to clean my greasy stove top and vent cover, to wipe down my toilets, to clean the tops of my light switches, clean the outside of my Keurig (that is a great invention), and to wipe down my counter tops–in the kitchen and the bathrooms.  They were AMAZING!!!

Thank you LYSOL for this great housekeeping help.
